Middletown AC Clinches Mar-Del Title In Dover Final
Middletown AC claimed the Mar-Del League championship with a 29 to 18 win over Milford Vets in Dover, sealing the best-of-three finals after dropping Smyrna in the semifinals and splitting games in Milford. The first game went to Middletown 40-27, Milford answered 39-27, and crowd size marked one of the largest for years. The Mar-Del circuit, in its first year, saw teams improve, with Cecilion Drakes enduring a 28-game winless stretch. An All-Star poll among league coaches highlighted Friedel of Denton for 5075 dollars. The house used to belong to Mrs. Griffin’s parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Evitts.
