April Term of Court Convenes in Caroline County Denton

The April term of the Circuit Court for Caroline County opens in Denton next Monday with a docket of 35 civil cases 79 criminal cases and 17 indictments. Jurors listed by district include Ella Wolf Mary Shults Rosanna Collier Noble Shively and others across eight districts.

Denton Woman's Club Meeting Today With Slides

The April meeting of the Denton Woman's Club will be held today in the club building on Second Street. Rev. Arthur Beebe of Federalsburg will present slides from his Holy Land trip. Mrs. Wilbur Hoppengardner chairs the program with religion as the theme. A business meeting follows the reports of standing committees. Miss Madge Jump leads hostesses with several aides. Weather notes and historic dates are appended.

Levy For Calendar Year 1959 Levy Made For First Time

Grand Jury Committees Submit Their Reports

The October Grand Jury met on March 30 to conclude business and file reports. Members Inez B. Turner and Mary C. Brumbaugh with Homer R. Wayman inspected the courthouse on March 24 finding extensive painting and renovation needs in the Court Room Library Grand Jury Room and offices. The County Farm inspection noted 28 acres of winter wheat and a need for repairs to the corn crib with limited acreage prompting a recommendation to sell the farm and earmark funds for an old age nursing home.

Capt Chas H Rickards Trains Jet Pilots For AA

Capt Charles H Rickards marks thirty years of flying this month and on March 17 earned his rating on American Airlines new Boeing 707 jets. From a 90 horsepower 1200 lb plane to a 124 ton 22000 horsepower aircraft, his career spans vast growth in aviation. American Airlines has 1500 pilots with 15 chosen to train others. Rickards will train pilots in the eastern region.

Tidewater Boat Show Adds Special Exhibit Bo-Bo-Two

The Easton Kiwanis Club announced Bo-Bo-Two will be a special exhibit at the Tidewater Boat Show at Easton Airport on April 10 11 and 12. Bo-Bo-Two a 280 cubic inch hydroplane from Queenstown Md driven by Alton Pierson holds world records for one and five miles and has national titles and high point honors from 1958. The show will feature a 40 percent dealer increase with exhibitors from Talbot Annapolis Chester River Denton Baltimore and Delaware towns.
