Rotary Club Revises Scholarship Program
The Rotary Club of Denton revised its annual scholarship plan expanding eligibility to Maryland colleges. A $250 yearly award renews for four years, with review, for North Carolina High School graduates who attended their senior year and gain admission to any Maryland AB or BS program.

Career Conference At North Caroline High Today
The tenth annual countywide career conference for tenth and eleventh graders from three county high schools is set for North Caroline High School Denton today, starting at 10 a m. Dr Wilbur Devilbiss of Salisbury State Teachers College will address the assembly with a special band by local tenth and eleventh graders performing. Thirty-one occupational areas will be discussed by local and visiting consultants including accounting agriculture architecture art work auto repair aviation beautician building trades business chemistry clerical secretariat commercial art engineering forestry home economics journalism law modeling music nursing pharmacy photography physical therapy police policewoman professional sports radio repair sales work social work teaching veterinary medicine and more. The organizing committee lists teachers and students from North Caroline and Federalsburg assisting in planning and liaison.

MYF Workshop At Trinity Church Goldsboro
The Trinity Methodist Church in Goldsboro hosted the Sub-District Council Workshop of the MYF on Sunday March 20 from 2 30 to 7 00 pm with about 80 attendees. The program featured a Personal Christian Witness theme, a movie, classes led by Francis Turpin Rev Donald Hurst and Rev Edwin Thomas, and a WSCS prepared meal at the Community Hall. After group singing led by Rev Thomas officers were elected to the Sub-District Council for the coming year Lani Hall of Denton president June Cox Harmony VP Geanie Ledman Preston secretary Joe Frampton Federalsburg treasurer Mary Lou Kerslake president presided over the regular meeting. A county wide bake sale was planned for April 2 to benefit the Camp Pecometh Improvement Fund. The event closed with devotion services by Bill Cohee and choral singing from the Trinity Choir. The Goldsboro MYF leaders are Doris Thomas counselor David King assistant counselor T Noble Jarrell Jr sub counselor Rev Richard L Hamilton minister.

Caroline County Garden Club Met With Mrs Roe
The Caroline County Garden Club met on Thursday March 31 at Mrs Frederick P Roe's home with 19 members. Mrs Robert Holt spoke on Spring a Month Earlier and demonstrated cutting and treating winter branches for spring arrangements. Mrs Holt also created an arrangement used at Judges School. Mrs Roe and assistants served refreshments as members shared ideas on spring projects.

Vermont Youth to Visit Denton April 9 14
Thirty five youths and four adults from Trinity Methodist Church Montpelier Vermont will arrive in Denton April 9 at 7 00 p m and stay until April 14. They will be hosted by First Methodist Church Youth Fellowship families. The visit is a return exchange following a Denton group trip to Vermont in January.

Cancer Drive Supports Local Cancer Clinic
The annual American Cancer Crusade Fund runs through April to aid the Health Center Detection Clinic. Drs from Baltimore hospitals provide service, funded by this drive. In 1959 about 10-12 patients used the free clinic monthly, with 1026 dozen fluffs and 498 dozen pads distributed by 54 volunteers. Additional gauze and cotton were supplied to families at home. Assistant workers and a long list of volunteers in the Denton area support the effort, with Mr. Clifford Stafford serving as treasurer.

College mathematicians tour to boost math study
The National Science Foundation funds college experts to visit schools across the nation. Dr. Paul Rosenbloom of Minnesota spoke to Denton and Federalsburg junior high students about modern mathematics on February 17 and met county teachers to discuss new number theories. On March 30 Dr. Cletus Oakley of Haverford College addressed senior high classes in North Caroline and Lockerman High Schools and consulted with county teachers on curriculum trends.

Spring Hog Show Held At Easton On March 30
The Eastern Shore Spring 4-H and FFA Hog Show took place Wednesday March 30 at 11 am at Easton High School. Hogs from Kent Queen Annes Talbot and Caroline counties totaled 126 with James Lane winning Champion for C A N 4 H Club Federalsburg and Donald Sutton taking Reserve Champion Trio for Ridge ly Boys Ridgely. Caroline County exhibitors included Alan Holsinger Richard Edwards Thomas Cheezum Lawrence Hignatt Jr and Samuel Harrison part of thirty hogs shown by Caroline 4 H and FFA members. Dr Ferguson University of Maryland judged hogs. Kenneth Clarke Esskay bought the top animal. Next show is Sept 28 at Centreville High School. Start feeding by May 1 for those planning to exhibit.

Holy Week Services At First Methodist Church
First Methodist Church outlines Holy Week observances with two services. Maundy Thursday, 7 30 to 8 30 pm in the Chapel features the Sacrament of Holy Communion offered by the pastor in a silent service for prayer. Good Friday three hour meditative service runs 12 noon to 3 pm with ministers from Caroline County delivering reflections on the seven last words of the Cross. The First Church choir will provide music and lead hymn singing. Rev Otho G Brewer Jr serves as pastor.
