DFDT compound touted as more potent than DDT for insects

A German born cousin of DDT named DFDT shows greater knock down power against flying insects like house flies and may be less poisonous to warm blooded animals and fish. Dr W T Sumerford of the US Public Health Service presented findings at an American Chemical Society meeting in Savannah Georgia noting DFDT is Di Fluoro Diphenyl Trichloroethane and was used by Germans in World War II. DFDT lacks DDT’s broad insect kill but penetrates insect tissues more rapidly due to higher solubility and uptake.
