The Denton Parent-Teacher Association met Monday evening April 1 at Caroline High School. Treasurer report showed 128.80 on hand toward a 500 target with only about one quarter of the district heard from. May 6 is the next meeting with a goal of 1946 47 officers and a film program on The Art of Living to follow Assignment Tomorrow.

Dr E Paul Knotts reports annual infantile paralysis relief campaign in Caroline county has raised $1,768.40 to date with more expected. education groups and individuals contributed and theater gifts await counting. Half funds go to the Infantile Paralysis Foundation, half to local hospitalization and care. Dr Robert W Johnson treats about 40 cases at a Denton clinic with several patients hospitalized long term. A local case was reported this year. last year's total was $1,600.

New DHIA Tester Named For County
First Lt. Edward F. Morris of Centreville has been named DHIA supervisor for the Caroline County Dairy Herd Improvement Association per County Agent F. M. Rogers. He completed the University of Maryland Dairy Tester Short Course in March and will sample milk from 24 herds, test butterfat, and track production and costs. Morris previously worked as a high explosive operator at the Chestertown Defense Plant, joined the Army in 1942, attended Officers Candidate Training, was commissioned, and discharged April 1, 1946.

Chinese Leader Talks To Rotarians
Hubert S. Liang a China native educated in the United States told Denton Rotary Club members last Friday that security and peace in the East require a new order founded on cooperation and the greatest good for the greatest number. He warned that colonial powers may fade and questioned their leaders’ vision to move beyond exploitation and power politics. Liang urged demilitarizing Japan and stressed China’s need for full independence and freedom, saying world hopes rest on America and a democracy rooted in non coercive power.

Truman To Get Honorary Degree From Washington College
President Truman has accepted an honorary Doctor of Laws from Washington College at commencement in Chestertown on June 1. He will travel by presidential yacht, attend a brief acceptance, and join past presidents Washington and Roosevelt as degree recipients. Washington College, chartered in Maryland, hosts 285 students and is named for George Washington.
