Delphi Boy Named Purdue Cadet Captain

D L Chapman of Delphi a Purdue electrical engineering senior has been elected to represent the electrical engineering students in the new student government. He was appointed by university ROTC officers as a Cadet Captain to act as Battalion Executive and was elected to serve on the Military Ball Committee. Details of the ball are forthcoming.

Two Lafayette Men Sentenced for Service Station Theft

Richard Everett and Herbert Howard of Lafayette received 30 days in the county jail and a $25 fine plus costs after pleading guilty to a petit larceny charge. The automobile banditry charge was withdrawn. They have been held in jail since arrest awaiting trial.

Fatal Accident Kills J. L. Groninger Near Logansport

J L Groninger 53 of Deer Creek died instantly Friday night after being struck on State Road 29 two miles south of Logansport by a Lubrite Oil Co manager Walter W Crompp driving north. Coroner Dr Donald Miller labeled the crash unavoidable as headlights blinded the driver. Funeral services were held at Deer Creek Lutheran Church with burial in Deer Creek cemetery. State House to Have Land Bank Branch

The Federal Land Bank of Louisville will open a branch in the state house announced Tuesday by A G Brown executive vice president. Change of venue granted in Delphi murder case

Dudley Richardson alias Frank Byrd will stand trial for murder in Carroll county for the June shooting that killed Patrolman J Wesley Wilson in Lafayette.
