Perry Rule of Carroll county secretary of the Grange legislative committee will speak at the sixty third convention of Indiana Granges in Columbus. His topic is Process of Legislation. Many other Grange members from the county plan to attend.
Frances Bell four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Tom Herron of Cutter placed a bean in her nose during play. The bean proved harder to remove than expected and required a physician to relieve the obstruction.
A 48 inch long, 9.5 pound Mexican bean on display at Hoshaw Barber Shop attracts attention. Grown by Jesse Randall on a vine, the bean is edible but requires perfect conditions to thrive. Harve Hoshaw and Tommy Mayer planted the seeds but gained no reward.
Rev. L. E. Knox, after seven years as Delphi Christian Church pastor, says he will retire on December 15. The Knoxes will move near Greentown, his former home. He has preached in Greentown, Westfield, Eaton Chapel, Russiaville, Albion, Cicero, Rome City, and Logansport.
Mike Buttice, Junior Buttice, and Ned Fremonte of near Deer Creek were each given seven months on the Penal Farm and fined 20 dollars and costs after pleading guilty to stealing corn from Charles F. Martin. The farm sentence was suspended.
Thieves entered Metzger Lumber Co Sunday night stealing gas oil and a battery from the company truck. Earlier raids took small cash amounts. Police suspect local involvement in the ongoing thefts.

Survived by widow two sons Charles Bricker of California Harry Bricker of Sedalia a daughter Miss Mary Bricker of Benton Harbor Mich three sisters Mrs Mary Kempie Grand Rapids Mich Mrs Susan Hufford Rossville and Mrs Frank Gheres Los Angeles Funeral services were held Wednesday at the home with Rev Freeman Ankrum of Flora presiding.
Four local people were slightly hurt in a Sunday morning automobile collision on the outskirts of Logansport as they were en route to Fort Wayne. Ashba and Martin families sustained damage to their cars in the incident.

Mrs. Mary Sterling age 75 died Wednesday morning at her Camden home after years of invalidism. Survived by four daughters Martha Castle Rosa Bowyer Grace Wingard Katherine Smith a son Charles Timmons a sister Lou Williamson and 21 grandchildren. Funeral rites set for morning at 10 Interment in Camden cemetery.
The Camden A. C. basketball team, reorganized for fall and winter, will open its season against St. Boniface Catholics of Lafayette on October 29. Players include Downey, Chapman, Simmons, Sanderson, McCain, Price, Larimore and Maxwell.
Mrs Mary Jo Morrison of Delphi announces the marriage of her daughter Mary Eleanor to David Dean Wighman son of Mrs William Wighman Hammond. The ceremony occurred at noon on April 14. Mary Eleanor is Delphi High School 31 graduate and has worked in Hammond. David Dean Wighman Hammond High School graduate attended Wabash College three years. They will reside in Hammond where he is president of the Techum Toy Company.
The stolen safe from Farmers' Elevator in Camden was recovered at noon Wednesday by Sheriff Bert Clifton. It was located submerged in about two feet of water in Deer Creek southeast of Camden. The Tuesday night robbery yielded $40 in cash and elevator records. The incident resembled the Camden post office theft from prior weeks.
Tri Kappa sorority members begin a house to house clothing canvass in Delphi to aid needy families. Clothing for children from 1st to 12th grade will be gathered and stored in the school annex across from the grade school. Reuben A. Duff, 71, farmer near Delphi, died of cerebral hemorrhage at the Wabash Valley Sanitarium after a month and a half. Survived by two daughters Mrs Clarence Anderson and Mrs Albert McMurry of Lafayette, son Wilbur, two sisters Mrs Arenda Moore and Mrs Dora Hildebrand. Body at Grimm funeral home. Services Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev Benjamin Rist to officiate. Interment in Masonic cemetery.
Carroll county received 4800 from the state intangible tax fund with 3000 to county revenue and 1800 to school funds. Treasurer Robert Johnson notes tax receipts at about 2000 daily as delinquency payments rise.
Miss Elizabeth Best of Delphi accepted a position as English instructor at a Washington D C city high school and left for Washington this morning. Daughter of Mr and Mrs John Best she taught several years at Delphi high school and holds a AB degree from DePauw University MA from the University of Illinois and two years post graduate study at Ohio University.
George Busteed justice of the peace fined Sam Swatts one dollar and costs on Saturday for assault and battery upon George Brewer.
Ruby Cunningham and her mother attended the Chicago World's Fair when a pocket ibook containing eight dollars and souvenirs was stolen from her. No suspects cited. The incident occurred during the event, with no injuries reported.

Funeral services for Francis M. Slusser of near Burrows were conducted Friday afternoon at Pisgah Lutheran church with Rev. A. M. Thomas of Logansport officiating. Interment followed at Rock Creek cemetery.
