Dorothy Mansfield Dies in Lafayette Fire at Home
Dorothy Lee Mansfield 43 daughter of Mrs. Lula Mason of Delphi died Wednesday when a fire confined to her chair at Alen Lane Lafayette consumed the room. Police suspect a cigarette and nerve tonic overdose while sleeping. Her husband Otto Mansfield suffered a heart attack upon hearing the news. Surviving are three children Linda Sue Bonnie Kay and Larry Joe, mother Lula Mason a brother Frank Mason and sister Louise Kincaid. Funeral services were held Saturday at Murphy funeral home with Rev. William Butts officiating. Burial Zion Cemetery.

Zoning Board Created For Local Needs Delphi Indiana
An ordinance to create a city planning commission was approved on first reading by the City Council. If all members attend the December 10 session it may pass under suspension. absence would push approval to December 24. The commission would zone Delphi into residential, business, and industrial areas and could regulate expansion within two miles of the city. The board would be nine members with two from the circuit court, all unpaid, and would draft the zoning ordinance for council approval and local newspaper publication. Delphi currently lacks a zoning ordinance.

94-Year-Old Man Apprehended Here
Lafayette police captured a 94-year-old Tippecanoe county resident on a warrant. William Frye, native of Delphi, fled the county infirmary in Lafayette Tuesday prompting a lookout. He boarded an eastbound bus Tuesday night and vanished before officers reached the station. Wednesday morning he returned to the bus station and was taken into custody.
