The contract to install the South Delphi Sewer was awarded Wednesday evening to Weis and Horan of Anderson for about 15000 dollars, with bids previously estimating around 21000 dollars. Delays on the Mortonsville sewer award followed bid controversy and extra investigation time. Completion will improve streets this fall and notices proceed.
Decoration Day in the town was observed with a service led by the Ladies of the G A R. Veterans, American Legion boys, and Boy Scouts placed three hundred bouquets on graves. A noon lunch followed. Delphi residents celebrate home town successes.
Mrs Frank Atkinson was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Thursday by Dr C C Cranton. She has suffered ill health since last fall following an automobile accident.
Mrs Francis M Davis of Benito Texas arrived Thursday for an extended visit with her parents Mr and Mrs W F Kerlin in Rockfield and with other relatives and friends.
J. C. Downey improved his tire shop this week by remodeling and papering. A large plate glass pane now serves as an excellent window display. Twin daughters were born Thursday to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sneathen of West Delphi, weighing 7 1/2 and 8 1/2 pounds.
Wilbur Weaver collected eighty eight coupons to obtain a bicycle donated by the Standard Nut Margarine Manufacturing Co. on June 4. County residents appear before the board of review for assessment adjustments, with set days for each township and taxpayers urged to attend on their assigned date.
Quick service advertised for changing motor oil with oil priced at eighty cents per gallon. The ad invites customers to try the service.
The first golf event of the season is planned for Delphi next Wednesday afternoon with Monti cello players visiting. Monticello is urged to send as many players as possible while local participants are assured enough to field a full tournament. Negotiations pursue Nelson Motor Sales possibly buying the bank stake and moving to Kerlin garage on East Franklin. Kerlin notes remodeling if Nelson moves in. Nelson Motor Sales representatives visited Delphi to inspect the new site.
A Delphi page of pictures will appear in the Sunday Star with 12 images selected by Frank Hohenberger who visited six weeks ago. Demand for extra papers by local agent Mr. Dye surpassed expectations and more issues will be ordered.

Friday, June 5, four cases heard as the grand jury convened. Several cases continued or dismissed, bonds set in burglary and grand larceny charges, and venue changes planned for two cause lists. Various civil actions and restraining orders also addressed in proceedings.
Band concerts have begun and strong attendance in two prior events suggests a popular season. The next Thursday evening concert will draw an unusual crowd as the dance committee plans a dance in connection with the show.

Thomas W. Armstrong won the county superintendent post last Monday after twelve of thirteen trustees voted. He received nine votes. Virgil Stinebaugh had three. Armstrong, former county superintendent, heads the Delphi Junior High and opposed the county unit bill. Stinebaugh, Delphi High School principal, supported by Eaton, Barnard, and Cleaver, favored the unit plan.
Thomas R. Marshall, 71, former vice president under Woodrow Wilson, died at the Willard hotel in Washington at 9:30 a.m. after a period of illness. The Indiana governor and Democratic figure was respected for his pragmatic leadership and humor, and his funeral processions moved through Indianapolis after his body arrived from Washington.
