Governor Veronica to lead Delphi in Legion Parade

The 1966 Hoosier Girls' State Governor Veronica Oesterlein will ride on the Indiana Boys' State Float in the 48th Annual American Legion Parade in Indianapolis on July 16. The Legion convention runs July 13–17 with a record crowd expected. Gerry Seese will join Delphi family Dr and Mrs Robert Seese when he arrives in August.

Republican Beef Barbecue planned in Flora on July 23

Ralph Zinn, chairman, says final plans are under way for the annual Carroll County Republican Beef Barbecue at City Park in Flora on Saturday July 23. Rep. Charles Halleck will attend along with other county and state Republican candidates. Tickets available from precinct workers Delphi Flora and at the park on event night. A dance following the barbecue at Flora Park starts at 8 p.m. and is free to the public.

District Playoff Schedule Sets Two Evening Showdowns

The district baseball playoffs schedule July 20 lists West Lafayette against Fowler at 5 30 p m and Delphi facing Flora at 7 30 p m with the two winners meeting July 21 for the area title. West Lafayette avoids night games. if they reach the final it will be at 6 p m July 21 otherwise 7 30 p m rain dates are July 22 and 23.

Mrs Hedrick Named Hospital Volunteer Chairman in Indiana

Mrs Donald Hedrick of Greencastle is named chairman of the Hospital Volunteer Committee for the Mental Health Association in Indiana. E Blair Warner of South Bend, president of the 30 000 member group, announced the appointment. Hedrick will coordinate mental health volunteer activities across state hospitals and nursing homes. she has prior service at New Castle State Hospital and Logansport Regional Hospital.

Cripe Improved Following Wreck Near Delphi

Wayne Cripe 31 of Camden was reported in satisfactory condition at St Elizabeth Hospital after a Saturday morning crash on State Road 25 east of Delphi. He suffered skull fracture pelvis and chest injuries when his car hit a new bridge over the overpass. police say he appeared to sleep at the wheel. The Cornell ambulance carried him to the hospital. Delphi City Police Sheriff Coghill and State Trooper Dennis Davis investigated.

Delphinium 4-H Dress Revue Showcased Fifteen Girls

In the Delphinium 4-H Club Dress Revue on a July Tuesday, fifteen girls participated in divisions I to VI. Nancy Rhine and others posed in back row with nine names listed, while Linda Merson and companions highlighted divisions III, V, and VI. Debbie Landis and Vicky Allen wore Colonial costumes honoring the Sesquicentennial. Becky Smith led as president with Mrs. John Peterson supervising the project work and decorations.
