Public Card Party and Club Meetings Held in Area Churches
A public card party is planned for February 24 at the Community building in Burrows. Jackson Township Home Demonstration Club held an annual guest meeting at the Baptist Church with a 27 member and 13 guest attendance for a covered dish dinner and Valentine themed tables. Roy Gregg presided at a brief business session and Mrs. Floyd Gardner led a history and song of the month. February birthdays and anniversaries were honored, devotions by Mrs. John Zook, and slides on patio planning shown by Mrs. Ray Myers. Hostesses named and plans announced for March meeting with Mrs. Eugene Willy. The Legion Auxiliary heard a talk on Artificial Respiration by Dr. C L Wise and Thelma Trent with committee in charge including Mrs. Joe Junior Barnard and Mrs. Carl Raber. Special birthday observances marked the all day Women’s Fellowship meeting of Lower Deer Creek Church of the Brethren. Bob Compton, home from Norfolk, visited with relatives and brought friends from Massachusetts and Kentucky. Tom Tesh had surgery at St. Vincent Hospital, and John Kirkpatrick returned home from Veteran’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Numerous guests attended Mary Ellen Compton’s February 16 birthday with many friends listed and games and prizes awarded.
