Delphi Teachers Salary Schedule Proposal Submitted
The Classroom Teachers Association of the Delphi Community School Corporation proposed a 1967 salary plan at a Tuesday meeting with the School Board. It would raise starting pay for inexperienced teachers with a bachelor’s degree to 5400 and reach 6900 at ten years. masters degree holders would start at 5600 and top at 7425. The plan, supported by local teachers, would cost about 63000 more for 96 teachers, about a 35 cent rate increase, but no board action was taken.

Deadlines Nearing On Veterans Benefits

May 3 Primary Election Set With Local Races
Nine thousand two hundred twenty voters may vote in the May primary compared with 10,013 in 1964. Tippecanoe Township has the largest registered count at 712, while Democrat Township has 190. Democratic candidates seek to challenge Charles Halleck in the fall, with Ruth B. Howell opposing Fred M. Wagoner for County Auditor. Republican races include Joint Representative with five candidates, and a tight County Auditor race between Ancil Bowley and Paul E. Smith. Chris the St Bernard known as Har old Thayer's shadow dies Friday after surgery at Purdue Veterinary Hospital. The 190 pound gentle dog rode in the car, crowd favorite with the town kids, and was cherished by Thayer and family. His body rests in a special corner of the Thayer farm west of Delphi.
