Holiday Safety Advice For Fourth Of July
Safety officials warn Fourth of July holiday revelers that traffic, boating, and outdoor activities carry deadly risks. National Safety Council projects 650 to 750 traffic deaths and 28 000 to 32 000 injuries over the weekend, with 143 drownings last year. Officials urge daylight driving, seatbelts, no alcohol before driving, complete vehicle checks, proper life jackets, weather checks, and avoiding diving alone. Camping and backyard grilling suggestions include avoiding liquid fire starters and ensuring tow equipment is securely attached and visible.
