Colian H. Morgan 36 a Santa Fe shop worker was held in El Paso County jail without bail awaiting grand jury action on a charge he killed his wife Eleanore Ruth Morgan 29 in their apartment Sunday night. She was found strangled to death with a lamp cord.
A broken axle on a coach of the eastbound train delayed the schedule by four hours. The train, due in Del Rio at 10 30 am, arrived at 2 30 pm after stopping at Castle Canyon about 15 miles northwest of Del Rio for repairs.

The State Highway Department in Austin approved a 10750 appropriation to reconstruct base and shoulders of Highway 85 from Las Moras Creek three miles southeast in Maverick County. Plans for projects totaling 1,700,000 were rushed and bids on further improvements estimated at 600,000 are set for July 6.
A remote Friday incident on San Miguel Island led to a primitive sewing of a deep thigh gash using a sacking needle and fish twine. Robert L. Brooks, a sheep ranchman, was discharged from Cottage Hospital after the makeshift procedure and transfer to Santa Barbara.
J D Mays father of Mrs M E Winters of Del Rio died unexpectedly in Denton early Thursday. The Winters family left immediately for Denton to attend the funeral and plan to return to Del Rio in about two weeks.

Huntsville June 25 three more of the 19 Eastham Prison Farm escapees were recaptured bringing the total behind bars to ten. four other fugitives were surrounded near Glen Rose after kidnapping a young couple and stealing a car. ringleader bybee and another rober ts were among the suspects. captured were Clyne Brown Aaron Burleson and Jack Sanders each jailed on robbery sentences. four kidnapers tied up a night watchman and mechanic at Covington and stole another auto. a second vehicle was wrecked.
Mr and Mrs FE K Fawcett plan to attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Washington with 73 Concho Valley scouts and leaders. They will join a special train from Fort Worth after a San Angelo sendoff and a three day training period from June 27 to June 30.
Hale County district attorney says Henry Exbert King 39 of Comanche will face murder charges after he shot and killed Dr FF McClendon 69 county health officer while the physician and two officers entered his cell in Petersburg following a violent jailbreak attempt. Officer Nath Burkett was struck with a broomstick and shot. Deputy Bill Shook was wounded as the prisoner opened fire.
London reports Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden told the House of Commons that Soviet Russia joined Germany and Italy in sending large arms shipments to Spain. He urged a cool British attitude toward the Italo-German withdrawal from the neutrality patrol as Berlin warned of serious consequences for any aggressive action in Spanish waters.
