Mapon fire razes town in Wisconsin disaster
Ripon Wisconsin May 24 quick work by volunteers saved the town of 4000 as a runaway horse broke a pipeline and sparks ignited flowing oil. Seven oil tanks exploded sending flames to homes factories and warehouses. Dozens injured and the railroad station and knitting warehouse saved only after heroic volunteer effort. The blaze threatened to destroy Ripon and drew help from surrounding towns as crews hauled out about 100000 worth of stock from the Knitting Works.

Anton Malee Rites Planned in Dekalb on Monday
Funeral services for Anton Malee a longtime Dekalb resident will be held at 9 00 am Monday at St Marys church. The body will be shipped to Water town Wisconsin for burial beside his father. He died yesterday noon at St Marys hospital after a brief illness caused by heart trouble and pneumonia. Born in Chicago 61 years ago he came to Dekalb three years ago and once ran a deli market before joining American Steel and Wire. He is survived by his wife and one son Arthur, a brother Rudolph of Madison, sisters Miss Jessie M Malec Mrs Julia Jewett of Madison and Mrs Louis Sheron of Delavan and two grandchildren Catherine and Anna Malec.

Death Takes Rev Evans Former DeKalb Pastor
Rev. BR Evans, longtime Methodist pastor dating from DeKalb and later Peotone, died after a lingering illness. Born May 11, 1847 in Wood County West Virginia, he served in several Illinois communities including Kankakee and DeKalb before settling in Peotone. Survived by wife, two daughters, and a son, funeral set for Monday at 2:30 PM at the Kankakee Methodist church with Dr. Frank W. Parnum in charge.

Bandits Slug Former DeKalb Man in Rockford
Bandits wearing handkerchief masks robbed the Darrow Division of Rockford Consolidated Dairies at 10 AM on Blaisdell Street. They found only $50 after forcing two office girls to record calls, struck manager Jon W. Troope, a former DeKalb dairyman, and fled. One girl obtained a license plate later linked to a stolen car. Troope, returned from the bank with nearly $1,000, was left stunned but resting comfortably according to a DeKalb Dairy official.

Miss Amy Johnson a 22 year old Bri tish flyer landed in Darwin at 3 57 pm local time completing a 9900 mile solo flight from England. Man Dies After Injury From Unknown Incident
A DeKalb man, Francis Paul Lawler, 46, died from a basal skull fracture at St Marys hospital after being found in a dazed state Tuesday night. The inquest and autopsy, led by the coroner and assisted by the state's attorney, focused on where he was between Monday night and Tuesday noon and with whom. Witnesses, including Lawlers young widow, testified to an evening with Duff on Monday and trips with Johnny Fagan and others ahead of his death.
