Tragic Train Crash Kills Three Wilmette Officials
George Ireland 37 Wilmette. Wilfred Reed 41. James Holderness 40 of American Steel & Wire fatally injured when their car driven by Reed was struck by the San Francisco Limited at the Sixth street crossing. Ireland died soon after at Glidden Memorial hospital. Reed died hours later. Holderness survived until about 10:30 this morning. Witnesses Ben Stewart and Percy Oberg reported missing wig wag signal. engineer applied brakes but car was struck center front of the auto. The three men had been at the Recreation bowling alley before the fatal trip home. Funeral services announced for Thursday at 2:30 pm at the Methodist church.
