Emma Lewis Kelsey, wife of Robert G. Kelsey, died after a tire burst on a racing car at Morris Park track New York. Stewart H. Elliott, driver, suffered injuries. Mr. Kelsey in another car escaped unharmed. The couple, noted auto enthusiasts, had a recent visit to Defiance, and Emma was 28.

The Deepe family reunion at Gates Grove in Tiffin township drew nearly one hundred attendees. School Board tackles tuition and crowding in August meeting
The board discussed general school affairs and budgeting to stay within the contingent fund. Tuition rates were set for all grades and advance payment was reaffirmed after last year’s adjustments. Requests included new books for deficiencies up to fifty dollars and literature needs for a first year high school.

Sheriff sale nets Dorr property to Butler for 1667 dollars
At the sheriff's sale on Saturday the D. E. Dorr property on North Clinton street sold to C. W. Butler for 1667 dollars, just over two thirds of the appraised value of 25 dollars. Wilful absence for over three years is cited as grounds for Lee Olen Landis's divorce from Edaoa I ndis. They wed in Hickgville in May 1903 and have no children. L. E. Griffen serves as attorney.

Farmer Narrowly Escapes as Wagon Runs Away
William Hook, a Latty area farmer and former Van Wert resident, was trampled and dragged by a runaway wagon while saving his grandson. He suffered multiple broken ribs a shattered collarbone a broken thumb and a scalp wound though doctors say his injuries may not be fatal. The boy dislocated his wrist.

A B. and O. locomotive attached to a seventy car train broke down at Stanley on Saturday causing several hours of delay until a replacement engine arrived. Roadmaster Spencer of the B. and O. was seriously injured while assisting unloading a show at Galatea near North Baltimore and was taken to Garrett hospital on passenger No. 7.
