Special to Findlay report: a large boiler on W C Watson oil lease in Liberry township exploded Monday afternoon, blowing the boiler 300 feet. Two pumpers Ed Williamson and Marty Sasex had just left five minutes earlier. Only a small adjoining structure was damaged. Cause remains a mystery as the boiler had been recently pumped full of water.

Man Stops After Repeated Suicide Attempts On Maumee River
Clyde Hutchinson, about 28, attempted to jump into the Maumee river early today after previously leaping from Clinton street bridge Monday. Police officer Charles Miller and bystander Ed Schick restrained him near the brewery. Hutchinson claimed innocence and requested a doctor. He is kept at the county jail while authorities decide his disposition. he appears demented, with possible alcohol influence, and has a history as a horse trader who recently fell on hard times. Hutchinson’s parents live in Goshen Indiana and he has been sleeping in a north side barn owned by Mrs. Griff.
