The district convention of Lady Maccabees in K of P hall was a historic and satisfying event. Morning sessions set up committees and delegates for the state convention at Put-in-Bay on June 17, 1819 with Miss Barbra May as delegate and Mrs. Berry as alternate. The afternoon featured ritualistic work, initiation of a class of about twenty five candidates, banquet for about two hundred, and remarks by Mrs. Jessie K Fazer, Great Record Keeper from Canton.

The formal installation of Rev. Arthur B. Cooper as pastor of the First Presbyterian church was held Thursday evening in the church. Rev. J. D. Campbell of Hicksville presided. The church was well filled and the services were impressive. Rev. W. A. Mast of Napoleon preached a fine sermon. Rev. W. A. Powell of Toledo gave the pastor’s charge and Rev. B. W. Tragedy Near Tiffin Claims 88-Year-Old Bartender
John T. Ward of Chicago Junction was killed Friday morning in Tiffin while trying to board an eastbound B and C passenger train. He fell beneath the cars, his head and arms severed. He was 88 and lived in Tiffin.

Accidents Wednesday left several workers with hand injuries at local sites. Harry Whitney of American Steel Package suffered a crushed right index finger. foreman Herbert Freck also crushed his right middle finger. Mrs. Perry Helpman slipped at home and broke her left arm above the wrist. William Davis, a butcher, severed an artery in the left hand while handling beer and meat. Earl Humbert cut the tips of two fingers while working in Sommer's restaurant.
