A state inspector uncovered a nearly four thousand dollar shortage in the St Marys Building and Loan books attributed to secretary Captain Louis E Lambert. Lambert deposited seven thousand to cover potential deficits and resigned. John T Schoonover was elected to succeed him. Lambert, Civil War veteran and former mayor, is believed to be victim of faulty bookkeeping.
