Burglary Suspects Captured After Daylong Pursuit

Burglars entered the Groselle residence on Nicholas Street North Defiance at 11 30 a m Saturday and were arrested by City Marshal Buchholz and night policeman Hummer by 4 p m. Three young men From Hudson Street Buffalo New York were identified with a haul including watches rings and jewelry. They were bound over to the grand jury on $200 bonds each.

Fifth District Republicans Name Sept. 30 1902 Convention

The Fifth District Republican committee met at the Crosby house and fixed Tuesday September 30 1902 as the next district convention date. Defiance is named as the convention site with one delegate for every 50 votes and one for each fraction over 25 votes cast for Geo K Nash in November 1901.

Loses on Buckskin Bill Show Attract Pickpockets

At the Buckskin Bill show a skilled gang of thieves stole from attendees. Mike Garver lost 7 dollars of 8 after spending one, Henry Gherrett had 30, and Joe Shoemaker lost 10 to 12 at shell games before offering 100 for a horse and buggy and losing. Deputy Behringer, Prosecutor Ansberry, and Officer McGushin recovered some property and returned it.
