Young Man Dies At White's Mills Crossing In Accident

At White's Mills crossing of the B and O four miles west of the city a young man named Chas Denman of Delaware Bend was killed when his buggy collided with a eastbound train No 46 at about 12:30 am Monday. The driver was likely asleep. the buggy torn, Denman killed from shock with legs and hip broken. Remains taken to Mrs Denman in Delaware Bend. funeral not yet set. Additional notes mention licenses to wed, travel changes at Wabash depot, and staff promotions at Turnbull Wagon Co.

Big Time in Ney Town Celebrates Fourth

Ney held a crowded Fourth of July with horse, bicycle, foot, sack and wheelbarrow races. The planned Prof Drake wind pump dive was canceled after a fake stunt drew crowd suspicion. Two dances drew attendees while the Brewery restocked supplies. C. W. Kerns and family visited Dr. and Mrs. Lehman.

Fourth of July Celebrated Quietly in Defiance

The Fourth of July in Defiance saw numerous family picnics at Island Park and along the river with large crowds. A Defiance beat Toledo Ivys 1 to 0 in a pitchers’ game, fireworks lit the north shore, Mt Pelee eruption was viewed, and the military band hosted a park dance amid heat and crowded trains.

Postmaster Bond and Oath Taken for Thompson
