Harrison Monument subscriptions sought in Ohio letter

A 1901 letter from Charles Easter, vice president of the Harrison Monumental Association in Ohio, requests a list of local subscribers in Defiance and Fostoria for donations of 100 50 and 25 dollars toward a 200000 project tied to President Harrison. Easter asks newspapers to publicize the movement without compensation and notes Senator Fairbanks as association president.

The Delaware Bend Post Office Robbery

Thieves raided the Delaware Bend post office around 2 a m taking overalls tobacco and pennies from Postmaster James Fahy. A horse road wagon and harness were also stolen from I N Slough's Delaware township stable, with no strong clues or reports until Monday afternoon.

Death returns to Banner Grange as Myrtle Moon dies June 5 1901 at age 25 leaving an infant. The grange mourns the loss and extends sympathy to her husband. Death claims Louis Shondell after bowel obstruction

Louis Shondell foreman at Defiance Box Co died after an operation for bowel obstruction. He aged 38, survived by wife Mary and six children. Funeral at St. John's church with burial in Riverside cemetery, with Rev. Gloden officiating. He previously worked at Turnbull Wagon Co and was active in local fire service and bands.

The Defiance postoffice receipts for the quarter ending June 30, 1901, totaled 4012.87 dollars, an increase of 920.23 dollars over the same period in 1900, according to Postmaster Thompson.
