Mrs Catherine Leithauser died at her home on Jackson Street at 5 45 pm Sunday aged 71 She was the wife of Daniel Leithauser who died a few weeks earlier The funeral will be held at St Johns Catholic Church at 9 am Tuesday
Sumner Wellman a renowned citizen of Defiance Ohio built a music trade career from clerk to owner. Born Hillsdale Michigan 1852 he studied music at Adrian College and worked across Ohio Indiana and Boston before settling in Defiance. He married Hattie Cook in 1881 and has a son Harry who helps in the store. He is active in Masonic circles and presides at organ duties in the Masonic temple. The Wellmans are a respected social family with a refined home on Washington Street.
