Defiance Society Posts Busy Week With Dances and Events

Sheriff Kopp surprises party guests at home as Ladies Aid serves refreshments. The National Union social session hosts a large attendance with late dancing. Mrs. Edward Squire entertains visitors from Mansfield and Tyron aboard a voyage abroad party. Local clubs hold meetings with art studies, Pedro games, and Knights of Columbus outings. Kenyon College Glee Club concert at Citizens Opera House ends with receptions and a dance.

Alleged Forgery At Saloon In Tiffin

A 22 to 23 year old man presented a 14 dollar check on a Tiffin bank signed by B D Knepper and drawn to Fred Sameel at A Umstead's saloon. Umstead cashed it after identifying the holder. Police report Knepper’s office was broken into and checks and stamps stolen. the suspect remains at large.

A joint installation of U V U and W V R U occurred Friday night in U U ball. Railway Wrecks On Wabash At Toledo

A slight Wabash derailment in Toledo Sunday evening derailed four freight cars and overturned the set engine. No material damage beyond a traffic delay. Broken rails on the B and C line caused two accidents in the city yesterday with only minor derailments and no major damage.

Art Baker Hurt In Toledo Streetcar Accident

Art Baker was thrown from a street car on Central avenue in Toledo on Sunday January 9. He was told they were six miles from Central avenue when the conductor pushed him off after a delay. He suffered a fall, was cared for at a friend’s home, then reached his hotel and home sore enough to need a cane. The streetcar company sent an adjuster to resolve the matter.
