Pioneer physician passes away in Defiance Ohio
Obituary notes Dr Isaac Newton Thacker a longtime Defiance physician who practiced from 1840 until 1893 and served Defiance Paulding and Williams counties. He died at 3am on Tuesday at his home corner Perry and Third streets after paralysis struck the night before. Born 1811 in New York, he moved to Clermont County Ohio and later Defiance in 1853. He married Lydia Heywood in 1838 and Flora Sinclair in 1871, leaving several children and surviving relatives in the city. Funeral set for 1:30 pm today with Rev Rav Slagle and Rev Murphy officiating.

Daniel Leithauser born in Ramstein Bavaria December 5 1820 died at his Jackson Street home Sunday morning. He came to the United States 1865 settled Defiance that fall and worked as a barber until old age. Survived by wife and five children Frank Lena both of this city Peter Texas Daniel Bryan and John Montana. Funeral from St Johns Catholic church at 9 am Thursday with interment in Riverside Cemetery.
