Obsequies for Hon. W. D. Hill Held in Defiance

The funeral honors for Hon. W. D. Hill, lifelong lawyer and former state official, were conducted in Defiance after his death on a train near Litchfield. City officials, the bar, and Masons led a formal procession from Grace Episcopal Church to Riverside. The event featured tributes to Hill’s public service and character, with services by Rev. Bigler and a Guards of Honor detail.

Erring Child Sent Back After Toledo Theft Hearing

An 18 year old girl named Ethel Gordon, arrested in Toledo for stealing clothes from a boarding house, was sent back to Defiance after a suspended sentence and fine were imposed. She pleaded guilty and asked for mercy as she had no money or clothes to go home. The judge showed compassion and suspended the sentence.

Winklers Return to Chicago After Week Visit

Larry Winkler and his wife have finished a weeklong visit to Mrs. Winkler's mother Mrs. Elizabeth Blue and Mr. Winkler's parents Rudolph Winkler and his wife, then returned to Chicago Sunday noon.

Mrs Froelich Dies at Home in Delaware Township

Mrs Joseph Froelich died at her Buckingham road home in Delaware township on Saturday evening. She leaves her husband two sons and two daughters. The funeral was held Wednesday at 10 o clock in Mud Creek Catholic church with Rev Kapen of The Bend officiating.

Mrs Winfield Dead

Anna Winfield dies at her son Robert Motherwell’s home in Sun day evening at 82. Resident of the city for twenty years she kept house for her son and had poor health. Services were held at the home Monday afternoon. Rev Stazle officiating. Remains taken to Scotch Ridge Wood county for interment Tuesday.

Wabash Railroad Files $200 Million Mortgage

A St Louis dispatch reports the Wabash Railroad Co filed a 200 million dollar mortgage on all properties. Trustees include Bowling Green Trust Co Newark J C Vanblarcom St Louis and James Borgan Chicago. Henry Miller says the July 1 1906 mortgage funds double tracking line expansion and equipment upgrades. The loan secures four percent first refunding extension gold bonds due in four years.

Fire Explodes Lamp Startles Family. Man Quells Blaze

Early Monday morning Andrew Greiser woke to screams, races upstairs to find a room filled with smoke. He secured a bucket of water and extinguished the flames before serious damage occurred. The blaze started by an oil lamp explosion.
