In a highly contested game at the central school hall Defiance college defeated Findlay College 35 to 28. Frederick Thompson led with seven field goals while Morris added most free throws as the local team held a 25 to 15 halftime edge and withstood a second-half rally to secure the win.

The Merry Afternoon Club met at Mrs A Baker's home on Clinton street for a December 4 gathering with cards won by Mrs Fred Wagner and a luncheon. Allyn Maxwell hosted a dancing party at Citizens Hall with about twenty five couples and music by Miss Amber Beatty. The Baptist church Women’s Aid society held a December 4 meeting, electing officers for the year. Miss Melvin Duff of Hartford City and Harley Lyons of Chicago wed in Chicago with Duff formerly employed as a compositor here. The Central Fire Department plans a New Year’s Eve ball at City Hall with committees named for arrangements invitations reception and floor. The Farther Lights Society paid tribute to Mary J Burdette with biographical sketches and musical numbers. The St Pauls M F E church Women’s Home and Foreign Missionary society met at Mrs Harshbarger’s with hostess ladies, led Devotionals, Christmas stories, songs and papers followed by an enjoyable social hour.

Weston Hall to Lead Defiance College Expansion
Weston Hall is planned as the largest building among Defiance college’s three structures. Architect J I Hale designs a brick and limestone campus center with a 600-seat auditorium, gym, running track, Y M C A rooms, and multiple recitation rooms. The two story stone brick edifice features a clock tower and 100 by 100 feet footprint. A marriage license is granted to Clyde Bruner and Thresa Armiog both of the city. Kenton grocer H D Leffer is killed by accidental gun discharge while rabbit hunting.

A Monday meeting accepted the building committee design by architect George S. Mills of Toledo for a modernized Gothic church at Washington and Fourth streets. The project estimates a $25,000 cost with 300 seat auditorium, brick and stone exterior considered, and a multifunction basement including kitchen and library.
