Company G Triumphs 10 4 In Gridiron Battle At Campus

Company G defeated Toledo Vols 10 to 4 on the high school campus in a spirited football game. Hutchins and Rath led the offense with a decisive opening drive and goal, while Sapp and Hutchins anchored strong defense as Hagel and Schmaltz sustained injuries.

Thanksgiving visits observed around town

H B Mullholand and family returned Friday from a Thanksgiving visit at Carey. Don Wilhelm is home on a visit from George Washington University in Washington D C. Miss Winnie Bonnie and Helen Cunningham of Toledo visited in the city Thanksgiving Day. Miss Mae Lance of Ada and Ralph Lanee of Cincinnati visit their parents Rev W W Lance and wife. Mrs N Hartman and son Dudley of New York City visit Mrs Hartman’s parents Mr and Mrs 8 E Boyer.

National Union Dance a Big Thanksgiving Event in Defiance

The National Union hall hosted the Thanksgiving dance organized by the Union, crowded with joyful dancers as Miss Mayme Farrell Fred Parker and Edw Speiser supplied music. Travellers Club met at C B Squire's home with a program on Mexico and literature and a luncheon followed by Salmagundi sessions. John Kissner of Defiance wed Miss Mary Thieroff of Ft Wayne at St Marys church with attendants Joseph Krutch and Hannah Thieroff, followed by dinner and a dance.

Advent observances mark first day of ecclesiastical year

Sunday began Advent at St. John's Catholic church with Friday fast days during the season. Next Sunday will celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, national feast day, to be fittingly observed. Several local residents visited relatives in Toledo Stryker Garrett Bellaire and Ottawa.

The Union of Churches reports a successful Thanksgiving eve gathering at Broadway Christian church. Switching services to the evening before Thanksgiving proved gratifying, with sermons by Rev. S. B. Griffith of the Baptist church highlighting gratitude and universal thanksgiving.

College Victorious In Open Basketball Season Game

The College basketball team won 37 to 15 in a season opener at the central school hall Thursday evening. High school players Lester Adams and Leslie Hay led with ten and three points respectively. college scorers were spread across Dixon Morris Foltz Thompson and Reisch. Officials were Vaughn Caris umpire and Albert Carie referee.

Plans Approved for New Presbyterian Church in Toledo

The building committee approved architect George Mills’s plans for a Toledo Presbyterian church. Fifteen architects were invited. Mills’s brick and stone exterior with a central square tower won majority support. The main floor holds about 300 in the auditorium and a large Sunday school room. a movable sliding screen can join spaces. Estimated total cost is about $25,000.

Remember the Dead Remember the Elks Annual Lodge Sorrow Service

The Elks lodge held its annual sorrow service in the Elks rooms on Sunday afternoon as a public memorial for members who died in the past year. August Gottwald and M. B. Everett were honored with tributes, with Don Corbell unable to speak due to a relative’s illness. Charles Thompson delivered the principal address joined by musical performances from Julius Blair and Maud Foust.

Local notes on visits and health board actions in Napoleon

Misses Alta and Nettie Kurtz returned Sunday from a visit with relatives in this city. Mr and Mrs Tom Elliott returned Sunday from a trip including Columbus Coshocton and other places. Twelve deaths occurred during November and eight contagious cases were reported by Health Officer Dr Westrick at the board of health meeting. Six were whooping cough and two were typhoid. The board allowed bills. Public Service payrolls and cemetery receipts noted. Washington street sewer completed by George Wilhelm was inspected and accepted.
