A Defiance report hails the Wabash railway bridge over the tracks as a sockdolager sturdy for fifty years and predicts it will be in use a decade from now if the railroad pursues its plan.
Mr and Mrs Paul Thiel and Edna Carpenter of Evansport and Celia Murray of Wilna visited the home Sunday. Several other locals called, including Defiance and Ayersville residents. Trustees hired staff for the coming year and enforce no Saturday visitors.
Banner Corners notes attendance at United Brethren meetings in Dickman’s Grave with Rev J W Metzner of the Evangelical church of North Defiance preaching Sunday evening. Metzner visits Monday as Ambrose Rath and Uncle Samuel Potters arrive.
Misses Jennie and Mary Mack return home from Toledo after visiting sisters. Carpenters completed John Biderman's new barn last week. Pahl boys finished Roy Moats and Lillie Richardson's trip to Pioneer. they visit friends for a few days. Mrs Kate Moss is on the sick list. Lome Nively is seriously ill with typhoid fever staying with nephew Lee Nicely. John Sewell of Gilutea visits here.

The management has been disappointed by delays in starting street cars and could not say when service would begin. Additional repairs were needed on the large engine, and after recent work an out of shape armature was found. The extent of remaining work is not yet known.
A letter from Ad Kern denounces slurring in papers and warns editors and correspondents to stop mentioning his name in township notices. He disputes a cattle purchase from Joseph Wisda and claims to have proof against unnamed accusers. He also mentions the bed rail and slat factory and threatens further action if harassment continues.

Fred Brandt threshed 1200 bushels of oats and 19 of wheat. Dinner guests included Mr and Mrs Fred Peters and Mr and Mrs Frank Ferris with Daniel Basset family. Wm Nagle and wife visited Wm Snyder. Masons completed Wm Brandt's cellar. Charles Brown from Defiance works for Geo Chase. John Whitney works for Foreman Kern. Fanney Noltey has a horse for sale. Mr Luffmire of Archibald hunted for a work horse. John Mattock labors for Ot Higbea.
Harvey Parker and wife of Garrett visit his brother Frank as Mrs D G Sharp and sons from Hicksville visit The Bend. Fahy walks with crutches after foot operation. Surveyor H English lines a new Catholic cemetery at The Bend. Myers and wife visit Defiance Sunday. Beindorf to move to Lesh farm east of The Bend this fall. Roelong’s new house nearly ready. Rev J W Sewell and son Cloyd of Galatea repair farm in North Delaware. Leonard Sell ed and nearly painted the Methodist church paper. dedicatory services Sunday August 13 led by Elder P P Pope of Defiance. Quarterly meeting scheduled for Saturday evening.

JB Stock represented Brady Insurance last week as the first gravel was hauled Monday. Mr and Mrs CL Buehrer were visitors of her parents Sunday. A well attended picnic in Cameron's grave Saturday. Mrs Ella Yeager and two daughters returned from Columbus City. Mr and Mrs Harvey Rogers visited his mother Sunday. The Ferris family and daughters Emma and Blanch passed through Sunday evening. John Coy bought a horse and buggy from Ben Palmer recently. Ben Palmer owns a new bike and plans a trip to the pike. Rain Friday night halted threshing for several days. John Gardner sought health relief in Mt Clemmons. Omer Burkett visited New Bavaria Sunday. Archambeault family with Lewis spent Sunday in Defiance. Earl Blake and family from near Hedges visited Florence Morr en Sunday. Richard Stoneburner and wife welcomed a baby boy on Aug 1. Henry Drummond returned from North Creek. Mr Motto is very ill with dropsy. Chas Dirr and family visited Henry in Bryan over Sunday. Henry Dirr Sr is badly crippled by rheumatism. Ray Shaw, three, cut off end of finger while playing with a cigar cutter. Dr Hilton treated it. John Wolf Jr is erecting a barn. Ed Wolf of Napoleon does the work. William Blanchard, the artist, remains busy here. Mrs John Wolf and family drove to Napoleon. she stayed until Saturday then returned with son Ed and wife. C W Bennett will teach history government grammar algebra geometry and township supervision. Miss Cravens trains primary methods. W O Carroll handles music and public school use. Miss Jennette E Carpenter will read aloud on Wednesday evening. Admission 25 cents. Receptions and lectures announced.
