Sex auditor Deindorfer takes a turn at the Conkle Case. When one reads the trash that Thompson writes about the suit against l. Conkle one would think that the balance wheel in his head was broken and that All this noise was the result that Accident. At first he kicked because suit was not brought against Conkle immediately after the famous Vordtriede report was received and now thai the arrangements for a fair trial Are about completed he again opens his saucy Mouth. A that reason has he to complain the suit is a very simple mat ner and the county can not lose it if the report . O. A. Vordtriede is True. If the books and the contents these books can As Well be shown by prosecutor Woods As any criminal lawyer in the United states As they show the facts in Black and White show that the report the above named expert to the auditor state is True then Toni Epson need have no fears for then Conkle has lost the Case from the beginning. Or is it probably the Case that Thompsons Confidence in the report Vordtriede is not is Strong As it was and he hoped that through his untrue statements Conkle might be arraigned before a jury confused by prejudices if that be the Case then he was indeed neatly tripped up it for there will be a fair trial. Our readers know that sex treasurer Conkle was charged by the report Vordtriede with having failed to turn Over $7000 that had been in his care As the the treasurer the county. They further know that from the beginning Conkle agreed to pay every Penny As soon As the exact sum would be proven. That he refused to pay the sum reported by a Man that was appointed to examine his accounts for political purposes Only no one will blame him when the result the suit is reported As this Case contains some very difficult problems figuring judge Snook decided to refer the Case to a Republican sex auditor and a democratic sex auditor namely v. V. Pursell and cans Hakes As referees. The Are known As men Honor who thoroughly understand the ques ions which will come before them Iii this Case and As non residents the county they can not be prejudiced. Judge Snook could not have done better for the interests the lax payers the county and Thompsons sayings Are insults to the judge and a suspicion these German her old. There Are a few Points in the above translation that we desire to Call attention to. Sex auditor Deindoerfer starts out with the proposition that this Conkle Case is a very simple affair and one that prosecutor Woods could hear As Well As any criminal lawyer in the Union. Before he gets through with the question Deindoerfer discovered that the suit involved some difficult problems figuring and for that reason says judge Snook concluded to refer it to referees. The records done to show that judge Snook decided to do anything the kind. Lupon an agreement among the attorneys in the Case it was referred to referees. Simple Complex the matter has been receiving the closest attention Conkle and his friends. For weeks ii. D. Webster the news and Democrat has been engaged with . Conkle in going through the records in the court House while two the Best Law firms in the City have been engaged in running Down every Point Law that could Iii any possible Way touch upon the Case. Therefore if it is such a simple affair Why All this preparation the part the defense and a masterly inactivity the state More than this it is said that Conkle and his friends have held meetings in the German Herold office where All the Points in the pending suit have been carefully weighed and the line Battle mapped out with the evident intention pulling Conkle through. The result this suit Means a loss gain to the tax payers 87,000. Why then should the Republican express be abused because it insists that the Peoples Side the Case should not be allowed to go by default we do not know what led up to a i can Tsow eat anything. The appointment Pursell and i Hakes but we do know that As i soon As they were appointed the Paulding Democrat announced that it had a reliable private information that inspector Vordtriede a figures would be knocked Galley West. Immediately after Vordtriede report was filed . Conkle announced that he was going to examine himself and that if he found that he owed anything to the county he would pay Back every Penny. The announcement the Paulding Democrat would Lead to the belief that this Man who is charged with the misappropriation Public funds has by the Able assistance his friends got things into such shape that they can Hope to strangle the report the state agent who found the shortage. If the state allows the Case to go by default it it half defends it which is equivalent to default such a thing might be possible and that is the very thing the tax payers protest against. But there is another Point. Or. Deindoerfer says this suit involves some difficult problems figuring and for that reason it has been referred to experts As referees. Hon. C. A. Vordtriede who made the examination Here and who disclosed the rottenness democratic officials and who demonstrated that the books during Deindoerfer a administration in the auditors office were one mass errors has had charge the books in Paulding county. A a recent Day he called in sex auditor Ridenour Democrat to explain certain figures and conditions that showed Gross incompetency in the care the auditors office in that county. Ridenour it 13 said stated frankly that he could not do it that the work had been done by v. V. Pursell. The Herold has said that this Case involved difficult problems figuring and is the opinion that the Man whose records in the Paulding office it is said stands As indisputable evidence incompetency is just the kind an individual to consider As an expert the very same conditions in Defiance county. We would ask the tax payers if they take any Stock in such doctrine ? in the above extract from the Herold Are some italics. They were marked by the editor this paper. In effect Deindoerfer charges that Conkle could not get Justice before a jury in this county. He charges in effect that the men whose names have been put in the jury Box the very Best and most substantial citizens in the county have not regard enough for their oaths to Accord l. Conkle Justice he charges in effect that Conkle could not expect fair treatment in judge Shook a a court and that he can Only expect get a fair trial before two referees one whom Pursell is charged with incompetency by his own record ii the auditors office Paulding county. We have treated this Case fully that the people might understand that in looks like there was a scheme to crush and break Down Vordtriede a report. To it was that that exposed democratic knavery and incompetency in the court House and the a a gang would Stop at nothing to destroy the Confidence the people in his report. Vordtriede is alright and his report will stand any kind a test it is put to if the state does not allow it to be butchered up by the a a gang High binders in this county. 33 a Twenty Page journal is the leading Republican family newspaper the United states.
