A Defiance Ohio effort seeks a 30 foot white bronze monument surmounted by a parade rest soldier. The design allows each county soldier’s name to be cast in raised letters. Unveiling aimed for next July 4 with veterans from Ohio and Indiana expected. donations accepted countywide.

A dancing host, Mr Wachter, plans a Kansas trip. two Boogs girls are hurt in a wagon accident near Wachter’s sale. A local schoolteacher disputes a neighbor, while rumors of sleepy teachers and scarce funds circulate.

Joe Davis bought another horse for 75 dollars. Elias Bruner tills about 3000 tiles. Misses May and Emma Lipp enjoyed a Platter Creek picnic. Rev. Stoy to attend Indiana U B conference. grove meetings slated August 29 30 with services and baskets for dinners. Local social visits and travels fill the week.
Susan J Longsmith, wife of William Longsmith, died Sunday August 16 from consumption aged 26 years 4 months 14 days. She leaves a husband and two children.
