More than 175 people attended the grand opening of the Bay Area Democratic Headquarters at 5010 Luella to hear elected officials and candidates discuss the coming elections. U S Sen Lloyd Bentsen urged grass roots registration and warned complacency could be fatal. Also present was Congressman Bob Eckart and leaders including Bob Gammage Ed Watson Tom Bass Mike Driscoll A D Azios and Bud West. The Deer Park Area Democrats will push voter registration by Oct 1 with volunteers and city hall banks and the League of Women Voters aiding. The headquarters funded by candidates will stay open as volunteers and College students staff the office across from San Jacinto College. Refreshments were donated by Gerland's.
