Deer Park capital needs surge amid rapid growth

City Administrator column reviews Deer Park's capital needs exceeding 4 million as population climbs from 12 000 to over 25 000 in five years. It notes water sewer extensions and drainage costs precede tax revenue and that taxes funded only 41 percent of the 1968 69 budget. A joint public hearing on rezoning tract A from business to a Day Care Nursery District is set for Sept 9. Garbage ordinance to require city containers discussed with monthly charges and cross city-school cooperation committees named.

Art Show Set At Civic Center

Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department sponsors an Art Show on August 22 at the Civic Center. Children from the summer program at Dow Park display arts and crafts with some Civic Center projects. Judging will award ribbons. judges are Stuzie Van Trease Harry Moore and Polly Modrall. Public viewing is 1 to 8 p.m.

Football Kick Off Banquet for Deer Park Varsity

The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce will host the Football Kick Off Banquet for the 1969 Deer Park High School varsity team on Friday September 5 at 7 30 p m in the Deer Park Jr High Cafeteria. Shell to Relocate Departments to Houston Next Year

Shell Oil Company will move Manufacturing, Transportation and Marketing offices to Houston next year. Four divisions of Shell Chemical and staff support groups will follow to the 50 story One Shell Plaza complex. Corporate offices stay in New York City with Shell Development and the Shell Companies Foundation remaining there.

Deer Park Jaycees Blood Drive at Town Plaza Center

The Deer Park Jaycees held a blood drive on Monday August 18 at Town Plaza Shopping Center for residents workers and families in Deer Park.
