The Deer Park Jaycees announce a blood drive at Town Plaza Shopping Center on Monday August 18 from 1 to 7 pm to stock the Jaycee Community Blood Bank. Donors from Deer Park and their households may participate. blood is stored at Southwest Blood Bank in Houston.

City Hall presents capital improvements plan

The Planning and Zoning Commission submits its annual capital improvements list to the City Administrator. The report, totaling over 6 million dollars for the next five years, requests more than 4 million in the coming year for projects including paving Center, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Georgia, and other streets, drainage rights of way, water and sewer expansions, a water ground storage tank, a water plant site, and a solid waste landfill.

House Restores Most Federal Library Funds After Clash

The House approved the HEW Appropriations Bill boosting library programs by 77.685 million above Nixon’s request. School libraries receive 50 million, Public libraries 49.894 million, and College libraries 24 million, returning funding to last year’s level except for higher education ALLOCATIONS. A Senate action and a White House meeting are planned with a delegation including Deer Park’s Donna Thomas.

Jaycee-Ettes Map Plans For Summer Projects

The Deer Park Jaycee-Ettes held their monthly meeting at the Civic Center with President Paula Carrillo presiding. They discussed Aid to Jaycee projects a family picnic and Christmas plans to lift summer slump and reviewed the upcoming Summer Area Convention in Nassau Bay.

Deer Park High School 1969 Yearbook Delivery Planned

The 1969 Deer yearbook will be delivered August 22 at 4 p.m. in the M Building Cafeteria. Bob Vaughn, sponsor, says students on the pre lists need not bring receipts. Authorized pickups require a written statement. Yearbooks may be mailed for 25 cents, plastic covers cost 35 cents, and remaining copies available at the door for 8.00 dollars.

The council passed a resolution opposing House Ways and Means Committee plans to curtail tax exempt status for state and city bonds. City Hall issued nine building permits in July totaling 420100, well below June’s 1917774. Six permits were for new residences totaling 348600. A ranch style Shell Service Station at 5519 La Porte Hwy was valued at 60000 with a sign and an add-on making up the remainder.

Jaycees To Hold Blood Drive At Town Plaza

The Jaycee Community Blood Fund seeks to replenish its limited supply with a blood drive at Town Plaza Shopping Center on August 18 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Co chair Bob Quinn says the program serves Deer Park residents and workers and their immediate families. People meeting criteria may obtain blood by contacting board members or calling listed numbers.
