Recreation Rangerettes Register Next Monday
Registration for the Recreation Rangerettes begins Monday Aug 16 led by Glenda Reininger. Last year they earned about 70 trophies and medals across parades and contests and performed on television. A marching corps and baton classes are planned with ages five for baton and seven for marching, at $5 monthly. Call 479 3002 or visit Civic Center 601 Center Street.

Barbara Coffey of Deer Park was named to the North Texas State University honor roll last spring. She earned a 3.5 GPA as a freshman home economics major under Dr. J Spurlock of Academic Affairs. Coffey is the daughter of William R and Mrs. Coffey of 1912 Louisiana.

Deerettes win Texas State Championship in Sens for Dance Twirl Large Team
The Deerettes Senior Large Team earned the state title and a large trophy plus individual trophies for each girl, with second place in Large team and a large plaque. Becky Strickland led Best Costume, solos by Becky, Dermge Hodges, and Penne Childers. Elayne Scoby placed fourth in 12-14 solo dance twirl.

In Pasadena, the Deer Park Colt All-Stars lost 3-2 as Pasadena scored two in the sixth to pull away from Deer Park’s Tommy Braden. Deer Park made three hits and issued seven walks, with Allen Dishough providing a late rally in the seventh. In game two, North Houston beat Deer Park 2-1 after Deer Park led since the second inning on a run driven in by Tommy Braden, while North Houston’s sixth inning produced the decisive two runs on three hits and an error.

The Jan Seeby School of Baton Twirling opens fall registration for girls from kindergarten to high school. Classes start the week of Aug 30 with beginner, intermediate, and advanced groups in each age bracket.
