Miracle escape as baby rides buggy wreckage
An 18 month old Winnifred Scott of Marshalltown survived a runaway buggy crash with near miraculous luck. Mrs. Scott was thrown out and Mr. Scott dragged, the horse bolted four blocks before hitting a telephone pole, breaking the buggy and leaving the infant unscathed. The parents suffered only minor injuries.

Shock From Live Wire Saves Waterloo Official
J P Jones assistant general superintendent at Waterloo received 2300 volts while repairing wiring at the electrical station. Employes found him apparently dead but applied first aid including artificial respiration until doctors arrived and a pulmotor revived him. He was taken to a hospital.

Rural Routes Consolidated Near Estherville
Rural mail service will consolidate six Estherville area routes into three motor routes starting September 1. One carrier will cover the former two routes with forenoon and afternoon runs.
