DAYS BEGINNING THE FIGHT FOR CONSTITUTIONAL PROHIBITION

A statewide campaign for constitutional prohibition is opened with former Mayor James R. Hanna of Des Moines directing the effort. Organizations unite to push the amendment with offices in the Good block and leaders from the Y M C A and W C T U steering finances and speakers. The drive emphasizes a full vote on October 15 and warns that only a constitutional pledge can prevent the return of the saloon in Iowa.

First American Flag in France Arrives With Stanford Unit

The first American flag on the French battle front led by Reland Root Speers of Marshalltown Iowa and the Leland Stanford university hospital ambulance unit. Presented by Friends of France Society San Francisco the flag bears a message signed by President Wilson. French officers call the ceremony the greatest honor to the flag in France. After the war the banner will go to the National Museum in Washington.

Kelleher Named Chairman of Iowa Exemption Board

Word arrived at the capitol that TD M. Kelleher of Fort Dodge was chosen chairman and H B Phimb of Waterloo secretary of the supreme exemption board for the northern district of Iowa with the organization meeting held in Fort Dodge.
