Morgan says 80 former workersReturn to old jobs as the silk mill resumes with double shifts night and day. Ernest Wright, the plant manager, announces no new hires are needed and operations restart Monday, boosting local payroll and trade activity.
The Decatur Rotary Club heard Airman Rev. Peter M. Dennis describe the Tennessee Valley development as a far reaching plan. He urged members to embrace the vision and contribute time and money to make the Valley a good place to live and to support existing agencies, especially the Chamber of Commerce.
Sixty nine graduates of Central high school received diplomas at a Riv erside auditorium ceremony last night. Honor students included President Virginia Speer Vice-President Chas Wiggens Secretary Bob Hunter Treasurer Lamar Moye Valedictorian Bessie Boyd Ross Salutatorian Mary Louise Otte Albert Blackwell and Louis Nelson. Principal speaker Dr O C Carmichael praised the graduates’ college records noting achievements at Alabama College and student leaders at their own campus.
New York state supports repeal of the 18th amendment with a large wet majority. Returns show New York City and upstate counties reporting overwhelming votes in favor as early totals from about six thousand precincts indicate repeal leads by vast margins.
The weekly community sing will be held Thursday at 7 30 p m at Southside Baptist Church. The Brown and Hatton quartets are expected and all singers are invited to attend.
The Federal Reserve System begins the first trial of controlled credit inflation powers granted to the President. It will buy up to three billion in securities to ease credit, but currently purchases 25 million, signaling full accord with the President's expansion program.

Reverend J D Wallace left Tuesday for Montreat North Carolina to represent the North Alabama Presbytery and its commission to the general assembly of the Southern Presbyterian church. In his absence Reverend R T Liston will lead the midweek prayer service at First Presbyterian Church.
Morgan County growers shipped 36 carloads of Aroma strawberries to Northern and Eastern markets, with 30 from Hartselle and 6 from Decatur. Keller says quality has improved since dry weather and top prices are being paid, urging continued picking through June as shipments may reach 50 cars.

National guardsmen patrolled Blue Mountain Alabama to deter alleged sabotage as about 400 workers strike over an efficiency system. Major Joe Starnes leads four companies of the 167th Infantry with Sheriff Borders requesting troops after pickets blocked foremen access to repairs.
A Birmingham merchants group, after an inspection of Muscle Shoals today, was expected to pass through Decatur this afternoon on the way home. They planned lunch in Athens and spent the previous night in Sheffield to start early today.
Miley Miles of the Wilson Printing Company Montgomery was in Decatur for a short visit today while en route to Muscle Shoals on business.
Dr. L. R. Murphree Morgan county health officer warns of drownings in 1932 and urges cautious swimming. He advises medical examination, avoiding post meal swimming, overheating, exhaustion, chilling, and diving in unknown water. He stresses guarded pools and safe long distance swimming with a boat.
Decatur veterans are asked to wear memorial poppies on May 27 to honor World War I dead. R C Billings of Morgen County Post American Legion says the act shows remembrance and devotion to the ideals for which soldiers gave their lives. The poppies will be sold by the American Legion Auxiliary with proceeds aiding needy veterans and families.
At Morgan County courthouse the Board of Revenue elected S. H. Gibbons as county farm agent for the ensuing year. His tenure dates from May 1, 1933. Gibbons has been acting in the post temporarily for months and the board reaffirmed the permanent appointment yesterday.
The non jury term of Morgan County Court convened by Judge W T Lowe has disposed of many civil cases during the session and is expected to adjourn by Friday.
The James Memorial circle announces valued awards for the Valley Horse Show to be held May 26 at Alabama Mills Park. This second annual event features numerous sponsors and trophies including a silver James Duncan Memorial Trophy, with three ribbons in each class and possible additional trophies to be added.

Bob Clark was removed to his home yesterday in Priest's ambulance after a medical event, with local authorities and emergency responders assisting. The incident occurred in Priest and prompted a brief hospital-to-home transfer.
J P Morgan testified against placing his private banking house under standard bank examinations. He cited higher client confidentiality and revealed loan recipients including Dawes, Norman Davis, Richard Whitney, and Charles Mitchell. He reported 1932 assets about 424.7 million and deposits near 340 million.
Harvey Pride, son of Mrs. W. G. Pride of Decatur, is a candidate for a Bachelor of Science in Commerce at Washington and Lee University in Lexington Virginia. Sir Josiah Stamp, noted British economist and financier, will deliver the commencement address on June 6 during the university’s sesquicentennial celebration.
