Fatal Carbon Dioxide Drowning In Molasses Tank
Earnest E. Morgan, 32, of Old Moulton Road, died after entering a 40 000 gallon underground molasses tank to clean it. Co worker Tommy Brenner 24 of Hartselle was overcome but rescued. Several others were checked and released. Doctors found a heavy CO2 buildup from fermentation and listed the cause as drowning due to asphyxiation.
