West Falkville man found not guilty in handcuffing case

The case centered on Burl West accused of reckless driving after allegedly handcuffing to a truck for 45 minutes during a double wreck on U S highway 31 on Lacon mountain. Judge Norwood returned a not guilty verdict Friday as testimony described traffic control by Patrolman Griffin and deputies.

Mixson Promoted To Tuscaloosa Southern Bell Post

Dwight L. Mixson, longtime Decatur group manager for Southern Bell, will become group manager in Tuscaloosa effective June 1. W. L. Hinds moves from Tuscaloosa to Decatur as district manager. Mixson has chaired local civic groups and served on multiple boards, while Mrs. Mixson has led community work including crippled children and war bond drives. He will complete 25 years with the company next December.

Senator Glen Taylor Arrested for Breach of Peace

In Birmingham Alabama on May 1 Senator Glen Taylor Idaho was charged with breach of peace after he allegedly tried to enter a meeting via a Negro entrance and refused a white entrance. Police Chief Floyd Eddins had him placed in a patrol car and jailed at headquarters with a $300 bond.
