TVA Gets Record Funds and Rate Hikes Warning
Washington lawmakers approve a record $125.93 million for TVA non power programs for 1977 while urging a halt to rate escalations. The report backs planning for two major projects at Pickwick Dam and Muscle Shoals, including a second lock costing about $100 million and a coal gasification plant at Muscle Shoals. TVA faces public interest scrutiny as governors and engineers cite ample revenue to avoid rate hikes.
