Flake Farley confirms re centralization of the Decatur based registration and research unit to the Montgomery regional office. Effective July 13 the move affects about ten personnel. The Decatur office will lose the unit while overall VA staffing remains unchanged.
In Florida a circuit court awarded the bodies of Peggy Russell and John Russell to their maternal grandmother W H Gay after she testified the father Chris Russell refused to yield the bodies. London June 19 Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin returned from Paris by plane and reported to a cabinet meeting on talks with French Foreign Minister Georges Bidault about the American aid to Europe plan. The joint communique invited Soviet Foreign Minister Molotov to meet in the week of June 23 to discuss the proposals. Tass criticized the talks as an attempt to reach agreement behind the Soviet Union’s back.
Ross Turner and Emmett Turner face grand larceny charges after arrests by Deputy Sheriff Garland Nuby and State Investigator Miller. Bonds set at 750 dollars each by Judge W H Long of Morgan County Court. Case stems from alleged disposal of flour and feed belonging to Alabama Flour Mills to local merchants near Moulton.

He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Jessie E Carpenter four brothers Jesse E Jr Bobby Don and Price and three sisters Louise Betty and Fay.
Lt General J Lawton Collins warned that Soviet forces vastly outnumber U S troops. He cited 20 to 1 manpower and 10 000 aircraft advantages while noting U S forces in Europe are too small to deter aggression. He urged universal training and unified services to improve mobilization.
