Cactus hobby idea from University of Michigan expert
Associate professor Elzada Clover of the University of Michigan suggests growing cacti as a hobby. She notes cacti bloom in any climate, require a dormant period from November 1 to February 1 with 50 to 60 degrees in a lighted room, and need watering about every two weeks. If kept in a darker cooler basement, water less. When temperatures approach desert levels, resume normal watering to encourage flower buds on mature plants.
