James M. Brown Dies After Brief Illness in Decatur
James M. Brown, 77, longtime Decatur resident and former L&N railroad engineer, died at his home 305 Grant Street at 9 30 Friday night after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 30 Sunday at the residence with pallbearers listed. He was born in Virginia, moved to Alabama in the 1880s, and lived in Decatur for nearly 50 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and known for his gentleness and community service.

M Kendrick Trial Date Set After Arrest Return
C Stuart McKendrick was arrested Tuesday in Birmingham after a three month jail term and returned to Decatur. He was arraigned in circuit court before Judge Callahan and scheduled for trial on June 23.
