Fears Of Abduction Rose In Blond Beauty Mystery
Fears that blond society figure Didi Battye may have been abducted grew when her fiancé Michael Asquith reported a note threatening to remove her. Scotland Yard took charge, watching ports and airfields as they pursued clues from several similar letters. Battye, missing since June 1, had ties to Viscount Long and the Oxford Asquith family, with family members fearing amnesia or nervous breakdown amid the inquiry.
