Washington June 2 Herbert M Lord former director of the budget died today after ill health. He resigned June 1 1929 to join Arthur S Kleeman Co New York investment brokers but could not participate. President Hoover praised his government service. Lord served as budget chief since 1922 succeeding Charles G Dawes. He had been in poor health since retirement. His son Major Kenneth P Lord recently visited him and his daughter Mrs Frank Van Ansselaer of Elmira N Y was with him at the end. He died at 8 35 this morning at his home.
