Alabama firm to rename Life Insurance Co of Georgia
Industrial Life and Health Insurance plans a June 1 name change to Life Insurance Company of Georgia. J. G. McGehee says management, agents remain, with policyholders totaling more than 418.9 million in eleven states. The company ranks highly in industrial life insurance and operates 125 district offices across ten states.

Fire discovered in Bledsoe auto in Cullman
In Cullman on May 31 a 1941 Chevrolet owned by Dr. G. W. Bledsoe was found burning near midnight. Neighbors smelled burning rubber and found the interior ablaze as Fire Alarm was activated. The car’s interior, trunk and spare tire were severely damaged. The Bledsoes had returned from Guntersville around 9 P M that evening.

State board plans meet on docks and future expansion
Montgomery based planning board will meet in Mobile around June 20 to review the state docks expansion and other public works. W O Dobbins says the purpose is to gather information to aid long range master plans and coordinate agency projects under the 1935 act. Docks Director Henry Sweet offered cooperation and no decisions will be made yet.

Lane drug executive retires after regional merger
H. C. Naylor head of the Lane drug store chain in the Southeast since 1932 retires today. He was vice president and regional director of Liggett Drug Co Inc. and the 58 Lane stores in Georgia Florida Alabama Tennessee and South Carolina were sold to Liggett last Sept 20. Naylor stayed to oversee the merger of Lane with 33 Liggett stores forming the Southeastern region of Lane Liggett Rexall drug stores.
