Single local crash adds to Christmas death toll
A Jersey cow caused a minor injury when it wandered onto the highway near Decatur. A head-on collision near Coffee Junction killed two men and injured three others, as reported by the Associated Press. One victim was William A. Daniel, 26, of Birmingham. another was a Black man in a crash near Talladega. Peggy Ann Mallory and Frank Wade were not hurt. State Patrol and investigators assisted.

W. J. Williams says Decatur Transit joins Hertz Drive Yourself network with access to Hertz services in 450 cities. By February 1 the Driv er Self operation moves to 1009 Ferry Street next to the bus station under separate management offering 1951 model cars and trucks with insurance and vehicle condition guaranteed. A prefabricated 25 by 10 foot building will arrive soon for erection to house the service.

City Traffic Mishaps Reported by City Police
Two city traffic accidents before the New Year were reported by city police. No injuries and minor damages. First crash at 7 13 P M Sunday at Second Avenue and Grant Street involved a 1950 Chevrolet driven by Charles Norman and a Plymouth driven by Jimyo. The second crash at 8 55 A M Saturday at Fourteenth Street and Fifth Avenue East involved a 1940 Chevrolet driven by W D Halbrooks and a 1940 Willys driven by Real Owens.
