John Burleson Named Administrator of Food Handouts
Morgan County will receive carloads of butter cheese dry milk shortening and beans for needy families. Mayor John Burleson of Hartselle was named administrator of the Federal Surplus Food program in the county at a meeting with officials including Mayor H R Summer and Sim Howell. Commodities will be shipped to Hartselle and distributed at 13 centers with registration set up next Tuesday if approved. Free food will be distributed at Trinity Decatur Priceville Dan Lee.

A black two-door 1951 Chevrolet was reported stolen from an alley beside an A and P store on Johnston Street SE between 3 and 5 p.m. Friday. The car, owned by Richard Staab of Rt. 2 Decatur, has no chrome on the sides and no seat covers. Tag number 52 4194, according to Officer Ernest Bowman.

Sheriff Jimmie Collier and deputies pursued Ernest Vinson a 26 year old man of Negro descent after he escaped Morgan County jail Thursday night. Vinson broke from a second floor cell and forced open the east courthouse door at about 6 30 p m while jailed for burglary.

Three Year Old Dies After Street Accident In Decatur
A three year old girl, Sedenna Jan Waugh, ran into Moulton Street and was struck by a 1951 Pontiac driven by Mrs. Criscoe. She died at 2:40 p.m. at Decatur Clinic. The fatality follows another street tragedy near Hill's Grocery in the same area weeks earlier.

Cycle Crash May Cost Girl Foot
A 16 year old Decatur girl suffered injuries in a Saturday night crash on Highway 67 about 8.3 miles southeast of Highway 33. Jeanett Stinson was taken to Decatur General Hospital with possible left foot amputation after the motorcycle she rode collided with a pickup truck making a left turn, injuring Alton Thrasher who rode with her.
